A new 20,000 square foot 2-story addition provides 12 new classrooms and two learning commons to better support students’ academic success. A redesigned secure entrance leads visitors through the administration office. The relocation and expansion of the library allows for more natural light and visibility. Minor modernization to the existing 50,700 square foot school building inlude: new paint, carpet, and technology. 
Site improvements include a better pedestrian access and new play areas/fields. Technology enhancements provide equitable access to technology for high-need schools to support teaching and learning in meeting the needs of students. Equipment upgrades to the audio-visual systems include classroom displays (projectors/screens), sound systems, document cameras, and devices to connect them. The school expansion proides permanent space for up to 500 students.  A School Design Advisory Team (SDAT) advised the project. The Daniel Bagley Elementary School Modernization & Addition project obtained TCO on July 31 with final completion anticipated at the end of August. The landmark Seattle elementary school, constructed in 1930, has been modernized throughout.  Classrooms, administrative space, and the student dining hall have been renovated with new finishes and technology updates. The former outdoor play courts and gym have been repurposed as light-filled spaces for art and music classrooms and the school library. The two-story addition provides eight new classrooms along with shared learning space at each level shaped around an existing Incense Cedar tree original to the school site. A new full-sized gymnasium has also been added for school and community use. The 20,000 sf renovation to Bellevue College’s Building G reconfigures existing space to provide new locker rooms, team rooms, classrooms, and fitness studios to meet the needs of the College’s athletics and physical education programs and provide fitness spaces for a growing student residential population.  Aligning the functions with the concrete structure allows an open layout, higher ceilings and generous daylight.

The Rainier Valley Leadership Academy redevelops a site on Rainier Avenue South for a new middle school serving the Hillman City neighborhood. The three-story, 43,000 sf school serves 600 students in grades 6-8.

Seattle University has relocated the Department of Public Safety to the basement level of the landmarked Art Deco-era Columbia Building.  The build-out provides expanded space for campus public safety operations with 30 employees and 10 student assistants. The project includes private and open offices, a student business office, locker and shower facilities for patrol officers, training and meeting spaces, the campus Emergency Operations Center, a break room, a dedicated campus-wide dispatch center, HVAC modernization, extensive communications and audio/visual equipment coordination and an emergency generator backup system.

The 126,000 sf Meany School campus was constructed in four major stages over the past 100 years.  This project reconfigured the school to reopen as a comprehesive community Middle School.  Hallways were re-routed and daylight was introduced to create a flexible, open student commons in the center of the school.  Renovation included seismic upgrades, recladding and window replacement for energy performance and student comfort, new building systems and reconfiguration of learning and social spaces to reinforce current educational approaches.

The Fairmount Park Elementary School Expansion adds a two story 20,000 sf classroom wing against the wooded hillside to the east. Renovation work integrates comprehensive systems, seismic, accessibility and energy upgrades to the 40,000 SF school that was constructed in 1964. The school entrance and central courtyard are reconfigured to reinforce the original plan and implement current educational initiatives including Science & Technology curriculum, Special Education and flexible Performance Arts and Art & Technology rooms. 

The Early Learning Center supports Head Start and Educare programs for infants through pre-schoolers. Operated by the Puget Sound Educational Service District, the project has broad support from public agencies and private foundations committed to improving the lives and futures of children in the community. These programs include the State of Washington Thrive by Five program and the White Center Early Learning Initiative. The Early Learning Center is located in the new Greenbridge community developed by the King County Housing Authority in White Center. 30,000 square feet, 16,000 square foot parking structure. The project is LEED Gold certified.

2010 AIA Washington Civic Deisgn Citation

The new 20,000 sf building houses 8 Head Start classrooms and 4 Licensed Childcare rooms, meeting rooms, therapy rooms and administrative support space for home-based Early Head Start teachers. The L shaped building recalls a historic Lummi longhouse that figures in the traditions of the tribe. The outdoor play areas are woven into the edge of the adjacent woods.

The project adds a 3,200 SF library and a computer lab to the second floor of the K-8 Saint Francis of Assisi School in Burien.

The Yesler Terrace Steam Plant was constructed in 1941 to provide district heating for the Yesler Terrace housing development. The building was designated a Seattle Landmark in 2011. The adaptive re-use and expansion repurposes the long-unused concrete structure for community programs including Head Start, Youth Tutoring, Job Connections and meeting rooms.

The renovation and expansion of the Hall Health Center ties together the nine clinical departments and improves the student experience by creating a single inviting and accessible patient services center.  The renovation reworked hallways to separate public and provider access and meet current privacy expectations.  A two story glass and terra cotta addition connects the 1936 Collegiate Gothic structure and the 1978 concrete addition with expansion space. 

The new Childcare Center recycles glue-laminated beams from a previously demolished campus building. The Center provides childcare for infants through school-age for families of College students, staff and the community. The project is LEED Gold certified.

The project included upgrades to the main gymnasium, wrestling room, auditorium, and fire alarm system.
