The new YMCA in Kent, Washington opened its doors to the public on September 14th, with a ribbon cutting ceremony and plenty of fanfare. Miller Hayashi’s design team were there to support and tour the recently completed 50,000 square foot facility, complete with lap and activity pools, gymnasium, fitness studios, and community gathering spaces. The Kent East Hill community eagerly welcomed the new building, with lines around the parking lot on opening day! The CEO of YMCA of Greater Seattle, Loria Yeadon said “Lives will be changed, families will thrive, neighborhoods will unite as a village and young people will reach their full potential in mind, body and spirit.” The YMCA is the centerpiece for the City of Kent’s Morrill Meadows Park.
